Is this the beginning?

It feels like I might be getting started.

This first week has been quite crazy.

I have an idea. I have a dream. I have an ambition. I have a thought.

And somehow, this week, it’s started to feel a little more real.

I’ve been far busier than I thought I would be. I genuinely thought I’d have nothing much to do. Instead, every conversation seems to lead to another conversation. Every question creates another five questions.

There is suddenly so much to do.

It’s still just a dream. Still just an idea. There’s no business. Nothing is set up. Nothing is certain.

But I think I’m going to pursue it.

I’m going to keep having conversations. Keep pulling at the thread. And see where it takes me.

And I’m absolutely riddled with excitement about what this could become.

I keep asking myself two questions.

The first is: when I look back at this week in ten years’ time, what do I want to say?

“Well done. You had the gumption to actually do it.”

Or:

“If only.”

The second is: what would the younger me think of me now?

I remember watching my dad set up his own business. I was a kid, so I watched it from afar really, but I think somewhere deep down I always knew I’d like to have a go myself one day.

And I reckon that kid would be looking at me now saying:

Go for it, man. This is what we always wanted to have a go at. You’ve got the opportunity. Do it.

So that’s where I am.

Very early. Nothing set. No real business yet. Just an idea, a lot of conversations and a growing feeling that I need to find out where this goes.

I’m going to keep writing as I go.

Maybe this is the beginning of a completely new chapter.

Maybe it’s a door I eventually close.

Who knows!
